Impact

Good People works with 60 women artisans in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Since 2017, every one of our bags has been made by hand, by them.

From six to sixty

Founder Clémence Goudard launched Good People in 2017 with six women around one table. Today, 60 artisans make our bags, and the brand grows only as fast as their hands do.

Paid directly, for every bag

Each artisan is paid directly for every bag she makes. There is no middleman between the hands that weave and the price you pay.

Work that fits a life

Our artisans work in the workshop or from home, whichever suits them.

Trained side by side

"We train them to our quality, and we learn from their talent." Techniques are passed on in the workshop, from one pair of hands to the next.

Made where the fiber grows

The raffia is harvested in Madagascar, once a year, without cutting the trees. It is dried, dyed and woven a few steps away from where it grew, so most of a Good People bag never travels until it travels to you.

Slow, on purpose

Depending on the model, one bag takes 2 to 10 days of work, from raw fiber to finished piece. We make small runs, including limited pieces, rather than mountains of stock.
